Molesey Lock will be closed to all river traffic between the times shown above

All those in charge of boats should observe any directions given by Environment Agency officers.

All those in change of boats should be aware that they are responsible for avoiding collision and should use all available means appropriate to the circumstances and conditions to decide if there is a risk of immediate danger and avoid it. This may mean it is not possible to comply with the Thames Navigation Licensing and General Byelaws 1993.
The closure is for the safety of both event organisers and river users. We are sorry for any inconvenience it may cause.

He was expecting some responsible adult to be team captain and now its him....

Oh, that's nice! What's happened to solidarity then? We'll go , if you go Tone and all that ? !!!

Actually, I'm a bit puzzled. As (until recently) an 'outsider', I'd formed a distinct impression that the flagship event was the ATYC rally and that the TVR was a more localised (middle Thames) gathering.

Looking at the list of attendees, theres only 6 boats from Bray (5 if you renege) and none at all from Windsor, Penton Hook, Weybridge Mariners, Walton Bridge or MTYC to name just a few.

In fact, by far the largest group - 20 boats out of 54 - is from UTMYC (isn't that the 'fender lifters' ?)

We had a lot more Bray boats at the TVR and over 20 at our own BBQ at Hurley. So what gives? Is the ATYC Rally not as prestigious/enjoyable/ as I thought it was?

Pity John isn't going , I'd been looking forward to him and Rebellion blowing the old brigade out of the water ! (silly season afterthought.....should I offer to crew for Rebellion?)

Tone, yes you are right, but that was before I spent two weeks listening to the rain banging down on my roof!!
I also had my firm calling me daily as they wanted me to decide who to "Chop" so all in all not a holiday I will remember positively!

I have the week off after ATYC, so I need a break!!!

Update....-
We managed to book a week in Levkas in Greece, with the use of a boat with a long pole and flappy thing on top for a couple of days, oooeer!
I promise to be a good boy and lift my fenders when I leave port and not shout "bl00dy foreigners" every time I pass a naked german!!
Cant wait to be off now.

We were overtaken just after Bray Lock by a member of the fender lifters club.
I do not know why... we were slightly over the 8kph ourselves at the time.

When we got to Boulters he was in the middle of the lay by. There was room for us, but subsequent boats had to hold in midstream. He made no attempt to move up.

I always plough straight in front of the "laybywasters", there is then normally a flurry of activity when they realise what I am doing...teehee

I had a pratt in Hambleden couple weeks back in a electric wooden canoe thingy with a delectable companion...
He tried to sneek out first down the side of me and everyone else in the lock to impress his lady, so I played the dumb boatowner (comes naturally of course, probably the german ancestry) who hadnt seen him and shoved the old tub out. Smell it, he was sitting in it...

Hear hear! Surely if they're that far down the lay-by they're just filling up with water or emptying the elsan?

I would always make it known to hire boats that they can go into the lock first (love hire boats, they're actually supporting the UK economy), but private boats should know better or learn...
