flicking through this months MBY i saw one of the "readers boats" a Duchy 27

im really quite taken by this and the appeal of a simple overnighter, shaft drive (as opposed to outdrive) space for the dogs to come with us, some cover, some open area and the looks of a stylish motor launch....

i really really like the Oyster 43 but thats just not going to happen!!

so..... what else is there around thats similar to the Duchy, be it new or old?

...from a rib to Hunton logical step.... from a Hunton to a Duchy.... Howard, you are getting old!

I was born old, so a Duchy gets my vote.

But another boat well worth considering (and less £££) Black Cove..

Well we all have to grow up at sometime!! in all honestly, i am an old man at heart! (drive an estate car, have a labrador, like reading the sunday papers with a mug of tea in front of the fire....)

Boating has to be about enjoyment for all. would be nice to go out in all weathers, with the dogs, and a happy SWMBO who can tuck in the warm when the rain comes in!

Clearly i like boats that are slightly different to most on the water. im sure i can find a way of getting my speed fix somehow!

i kinda wanna get away from the planing hull form and something more semi displacement.

fundamentally a day boat with the ability to tuck out of the weather, the odd overnight, toilet and somewhere to warm my horlicks and cool my pimms!

go and buy that Black Cove, its in Lymington, good level of equipment, nice size engine, and surely spot on for what you want....
