Dublin city moorings

While in Marinespeed yesterday picking up an Irish Pilot, I suggested that I intend to spend a couple of days in Dublins town moorings. This was met with tutting and intakes of breath suggesting that the boat would almost certainly be broken into and robbed blind.

Yet the pilot says 24hr security. I really fancy a trip up the Liffy, am I mad?

Has anyone been there lately, is it secure, can I leave the boat while sampling Temple Bar etc. I need responses quickly as I am off to the boat this evening and this site takes far too long to load on moblie.

if you have been there lately, but feel too late to respond, please email jools_69@yahoo.com I really will appreciate and feedback on this problem.

Thank you all.

Not in a boat but was in Dublin a couple of weeks back. Certainly looks secure from shoreside, but there's a damn fine marina in Dun Laoghaire with a train service into the city centre

lots of visitors using the city moorings, and have not heard of any problems so far.
I have often tied up in the liffey over the years and no problem. By the way there is 24 hour security.
Nick.

I have not heard anything adverse about the Dublin City Moorings. Security is excellent and you have a nice walk into the city centre. Having the East Link Bridge open up for you is fun too.

Spend a night at Dun Laoghaire marina while you are in the area. The area is well worth a visit:lots of nice restaurants, pubs, people. The marina is superb
