Dubarry sailing boots

Mine failed spectacularly last summer, while preparing lines in pishing rain on the foredeck.
Timpson’s had a go at sticking them (for no cost, as he wasn’t sure it would work) - lasted an hour.
I hear a rumour of a local cobbler who can fix them, I’ll try that, I’ll but I’ve ordered some Orca Bay boots for the Irish summer.

Has anyone tried the Chatham Solor boots? The only review I’ve found just says “buy a size larger than usual”.

I can heartily reccomend Zihk boots. Toasty warm and very good non- slip soles. Plus gaiters to stop waves going up your trouser leg.

A solution (pun intended)!
As has happened to many others, the sole of one of my Dubarry booots failed spectacularly, detaching itself from the underlying grey foam. An attempted repair at sea with contact adhesive was a dismal failure. However, having retreated to the workshop, the problem was solved. The sole and grey foam midlayer were cleaned with xylene thinners and allowed to dry. The sole was abraded with 100 grit and wiped clean again with thinners. Bostik 2402 (aka 2-part Hypalon boat adhesive) was applied to both surfaces, allowed to dry for 12-15 minutes and the sole carefully replaced without entrapped air and clamped all around with spring clamps.
Bostik 2402 is licensed for bonding synthetic rubber to aircraft propeller blades, so it should hold! The boots are now back in action and although they are 10+ years old, hopefully will last another few years.

Not strictly relevant, but I bought my wife a pair of Hunter wellies for dog walking in lockdown.
Absolute rubbish. Lasted about two months. Replaced under warranty and the second pair lasted about the same. Not the product that they used to be.
Reverted to cheap Dunlops, which last a lot longer, but not as trendy.
