In Lidl this week pair of boots, sort of cross between a wellie and a fur lined boot with waterproof uppers £6.99. Not tried them on boat but great for walking the dog. Am I a cheapskate?
Harry.
Well, I don't think of myself as a cheapskate and I can never see myself paying a hundred quid for footwear, not even for motorbike boots.
SWMBO and darling daughter are fed up with me saying ''How much? How can you pay that sort of money for something you can't even ride a bike, ride a horse or sail in! And even then I wouldn't pay that price!''
You gets what you pays for unless you pays for a name. Well, I suppose you gets the name.
Lidl stuff is good value in my experience. Not the best, but not cr*p.
When people say "you get what you pay for" they assume you are happy to pay a massive premium for a label . . . that does not necessarily represent good value, unless you are a Chav and need the label to overcome an inferiority complex.
There, that should get a few going now /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Couldnt agree more...my son happy to pay £75 for a pair of jeans that are full of holes because they are made by "Diesel" thought he only made engines....yet my pair from tesco's at £3 seem as good if not better quality!!.......may be I am getting too long in the tooth to see the point in all this label crap!!
Paul.
Continuing on Lidl doesn't sell cr**, This week went to a local Lidl to buy a £9.99 Raclette (a fancy means of cooking? cheese) none available, a girl in store said that a man came in and took their total allocation of 35, no good going to the next nearest store as a similar occurence had taken place. Wife jokingly said that whoever is buying them must be selling them on the internet. A check on e-bay same manufacture same model buy it now price £25 p&p £9.99.
So if its good enough for e-bay (afterall you always get a bargain on the internet).
Had to share this with somebody,

Somebody I know well buys quite a lot from Lidl/Aldi/Netto and makes a tidy amount of pocket money reselling on E Bay.
On another tack somebody asked on the Forum about Elmo TX(a silly but not cheap)christmas toy and I suggested he go to Argos to buy it,it was out of stock.
I went into Argos and discovered that the majority of their store stock had been bought in 2 purchases,So if you want an Elmo go to E Bay!
