I seem to have a problem with my freezer in that it is fine when the shore power is on and it is running on 240V but when the shore power goes off it should switch and run on the 24V but it does not.

I assume there is some sensor/switch that has gone wrong.

Has anyone had this problem before and fixed it? Can you tell me where to look and what it looks like? And where to get a new one?

Make and model of freezer might help!

There is a box at the back with both inputs that handles the change over and reduces 240 to 24 ( I Beleive they are all modified to run on a 24v compressor). Mine has the opposite. 240 is unreliable to I just leave it on 24v all the time.

Find the box and buy a new one off eBay. They can be buggers to get to which is why I have not replaced my fridge one as I can’t fully remove the fridge and it is tucked under the compressor

Waeco cool box in the S/Skr used to fail , can’t remember which way , but I went through 3 in a 9 year ownership .
Fortunately the local S/Sker technical guys ,office on my marina had a box full of them and the last time I went round they gave me three foc . There call out vans are permanently stocked with them .
It just a case of finding it , about 1/2 the area of a I pad and 5 cm deep - just plug n play .

I took round a create of beer btw , when cooled down :)

They were always very nice with us even though at the time the largest boat was 37 M then the 155 ft despite that they lavished care and to me equal professionalism on our bottom of the range Porto 35 , fixing stuff , and supplying parts .

Once mid August on a week end the vac flush bog packed up .
I walked round to the office , “ they all out on jobs as it’s charter turn around week end “
“ how many toilets have you got “ ? asked the lady receptionist
One I answered .
“ how many pax on board “
Wife n kids + me I answered.
“ ok I,ll put on a priority job “
9 pm that night two guys arrived at the jetty and 2 hrs later they fully serviced the duck bills , motor etc of the vac flush .
I asked them what time do they work ? They said “until every boats in working order “.
A call came in while they where fixing mine , somebody’s charger had packed up - again they keep them on the van and off they went .
