Hi all,

I have a 2015 Beneteau 31 with an NMEA2000 B&G instrument setup using a Zeus2 MFD installed from new.

Airmar Triducer IDST-N2000
Part number 44-127-3-01
Rev 13
FW 1.022

Up until very recently I was able to read depth but it has suddenly stopped. Not zero or erroneous data, just no depth data.

1 - The DST200 is being recognised on the N2K network. I can see the serial number and data coming from the instrument but it is only boat speed.
2 - I checked the DEPTH data source on the MFD and is it correctly selected to DST200
3 - I pulled the transducer. Flicking the wheel changes the boat speed on the MFD and I can hear the sounder ticking. There is no growth on the transducer.
4 - Reset the devices and data sources on the MFD, restarted.

Still no depth.

I have concluded that the power/physical data connection is OK because I see other data. The MFD recognises the instrument as it reads serial, SW versions and I see live speed data. It is almost as if the DST200 has configured itself to only export boat speed and not depth data.

I do not see any configuration options through the MFD other than a depth offset.

Is there a way to configure the DST200 or at least check how it is configured?

Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance

Rich

Is it actually a DST800?

You have done all the right things but it is very likely broken and there is no practical repair. I'm not convinced these were one of Airmar's better offerings - we've seen a few of these fail in the same way.

Replacements are still available here and there.

Hi Mike,

You might be correct. If I put the Airmar PN into their cross-reference guide it comes up as a DST800.

It shows up in the MFD as a DST200 though.....

So you think a replacement is the way to go?

I had a similar issue and somewhere within the network setup there is a tick box that I never realised was there which basically confirms what input you want to use for each of the sensors. Contact the B&G help guys as they are really good.

Is the boat in the water?

I contacted B&G (Navico in UK) and they agree with the conclusion that it is goosed. They have offered to replace it with a DST810 at a reduced rate so going for that i think.

I had a similar conversation with B&G regarding my unit of a similar vintage which struggled at depths of 20m or more. Save for the offer of a new unit at reduced price!

The problem seem to fix itself but showed signs of returning when I was last out

Depth sounder struggling
