My depth transducer issues still aren't resolved. Although The Service Centre said "no fault found" with the head unit, Hudson Marine who sold me a replacement transducer are saying the head unit is giving dodgy readings. So it would appear that my choices are:
* get an old ST50 from eBay. They're not cheap and I'm not sure that spending a hundred quid or more on 30 year old tech is a good plan
* buy an i50 depth. £400+
* sell the new/uninstalled depth transducer to recoup some of the loss on it and buy a dst810gen2, displaying the results on the old st50 (until it dies)

I'm leaning towards the latter. Although the head unit may not be adequately working with the transducer, the *display* is fine and the 810 would feed it via my seatalkng->seatalk converter. Worst case at least I'd have depth displayed on the plotter. Moreover my log transducer has never been anywhere remotely accurate no matter how I try to calibrate it and all the fancy options of the 810 look very appealing.

Does anyone have one of these 810gen2s and does the calibration fulfil what it promises? I'm a little bit wary of the whole bluetooth/phone app thing. 20 years from now that's going to sound as convenient as configuring it from your psion organiser.

We fitted on last year to replace the tacktick DST800 one fitted as it was straight swap in the through hull. Works very well with plotter, the app works very well and calibrations etc vey simple, the heeling report matches the one from our autopilot head.
we don’t use the app very often as data is on 2k network

Have Hudson Marine had the transducer back and tested it ? If not, how can they blame the display ?

I have the original DST810 and would echo Daves reply.
