Would it help if MORE people kept a radio ear open on the upper Thames,perhaps on a dedicated channel.
This would enable one boat to contact another boat and ask if ....ferinstance....Could they poss. shuffle up a bit or would they mind if you popped into that b......dy great gap in front of them at lock laybye or EVEN would anybody volunteer to allow your boat to moor alongside them when overnight mooring chock full of narrowboats.
The downside of course would be the radio left switched on all day up on somebodies flybridge broadcasting to all and sundry and ruining the peace and quiet of the river.
This would however add a bit of variety to the constant racket of assorted stinky generators on surrounding boats to tight to buy decent batteries,so prevalent on the Thames.
