I am seriously considering moving (the boat) from the Medway up to the Orwell but with the escalating costs of lifting the boat for short term purposes - scrub off - anode check/change - quick antifouling etc, I quite like to and happy to, take her to a suitable place and dry her out. Hard standing obviously preferable, but posts shouldn't be too problematic. So, any ECF regulars with boats on the East Coast know of any such venues?
Boats a 36' Beneteau with wing fin keel - not bilge.

It's a good facility at SYH, I've used it a couple of times.

I've noticed over the years that scrubbing posts are on the decline in the UK.

I suppose the quick scrub and anodes, held temporarily in the slings, is not only a better earner but less of a
maintenance cost.

Have used this service a number of times, particularly in the summer when there are deals on.

I need to carry out a small repair to the rudder and need as much time dry to allow marine filler repair to cure, before tide returns.

Rules out the quick lift scrub and relaunch option.

Lost the propeller this summer cruise and found on lifting that the departing prop had clumped the rudder, taking out a small chunk of gel coat.
As the lift was on a summer scrub off deal, only had time to check shaft and fit a replacement prop, before the yard were expressing a desire to pop her back in.
So, applied a big old dollop of sikaflex to the damage (hole) as a temporary measure to prevent further water getting in, although this had probably already occurred, as I had to wait two weeks for the new prop to arrive and get the lift sorted.
Hence, the need for a suitable scrub off venue and SYH seems the ideal location, especially as water and power there too. And the price isn't unrealistic either.
Thanks again ECF.

One of the tricks at N Fambridge was to ask for the last lift before the Yard packed it in for the night, or if they knew your reasons they would even offer. they would then leave it in the slings overnight and put the boat back in in the morning :)
