Drying out against a wall

In some ways you have more problems than a fin.If the mud isnt level you may dry out leaning away from the wall.Uncomfortable but not dangerous. Before drying either look at the ground with tide out or at least poke around with an oar to check for obstructions/flatness.

If the mud slopes towards the wall (as it can if for instance a storm water drain empties near by and scours along the wall)The boat can then lean heavilly towards the wall squashing fenders possiblky even bending stantions etc.

Flat is great sloping slightly out is ok sloping in to the wall Dont do it. Been there bent the stantion etc etc.
