Drying Mooring layer needed

In Wales people normally lay their own drying moorings. You just need 2 suitable sized ground anchors, a length of heavy ground chain connecting them, a riser of lighter chain with a swivel and a bouy capable of holding the chain. If there is not a great rise of tide due to the drying height you only really need a pickup buoy to hold up the mooring strops. Plenty of good books on the subject as has been noted. OR you can pay someone else several hundred pounds plus the cost of the tackle to do this for you. As long as the gear is the right size and all shackles are moused there is not much too it. Also it is a part of learning how to do things and as it dries it is easy to check things on a regular basis.
Look at what other moorings are laid to - if it is very soft mud then maybe a weight is better but this is easy to fabricate in sections between tides using concrete mix and accelerator.

Not too hard to lay your own depending on the size of your boat. Row the tackle out at high water, dump over the side, return at low water to dig in anchors/sinkers and shackle it all together. Simples****
