is there such a thing??

On the south coast we have dry stacks that take some pretty big boats, i know Saxon Wharf has a few 43 footers in the racks.....

Is there such a thing in the med? or are all the boats down there million ££ monsters??

Don't know about the med but there's a dry stack / warehouse on Lake Garda. Some pretty big stuff in there I recall.

I can think of about 4 off the top of my head the Cote d"Azur. This one http://www.port-inland.com/en/tarifs.htm is I think by far the biggest in terms of number of boats .... 11m limit though according to the site

Must be empty though as 23m absolute minimum for SoF ;)

Having said that I've seen bigger in the Arie de Boom dry stack ( 50-foot plus)

23M minimium, wont bother putting Aviator down there then!!

mmm lake garda, now that would be nice!!!

not sure. i know mine has done a season down there in the past. seems an ideal place for a fast day boat!

Think there is a couple of 43s down there and 37 in the Mallorca (with petrols!!:D ) and a 37 in Turkey somewhere too.

At least one of the 43s is in St Trop (or Grimaud) ... and I think the other is there or Frejus. Just an unrepresented brand .. I know they have done 2 Cannes shows (maybe more?) ... opportunity for you? :D

If only i could give up my day job!

They seem to focus on the superyacht tender market (with the ribs) down there i think. their new 10 meter rib is very nice!

Their sales director is a throughly decent bloke and next time i see him i will ask!!

Aviator would be awesome down here zippy. Although there are few Huntons there are plenty of comparables (Fountains and smaller Magnums, for example) so you'd be in good company and folks would admire it. Go on, move it for a season. Put it in a normal berth; you dont need a dry stack do you?

I kept my boat in Sardinia for three years and overwintered it in out of the water in a top notch warehouse owned and run by Nausika in Olbia. They offered me a great deal to keep the boat out of the water through the summer and just drop it in when I flew down for a week or two. Their facility's empty throughout the summer, of course, so they're keen for some income. Amazing engineers and facilities on tap 24/7 as well!

Where we are there a quite a few boatyards where your boat is kept on a trailer and launched by a huge tractor type thing. Biggest boat size is around 28 foot. The big advantage is the boat is kept out of the water, so no need to anti-foul, change anodes or worry about the boat sinking on the mooring.

Downside is going to a dusty boat yard is not quite the same as spending time in a swanky marina. But it is cheap.

The biggest I have ever seen on the med is Marina Marbella. It is stacked high, all under cover and the boats stacked are enormous. The forklift truck could make mincemeat out of the average sized UK machine. Drystacking is more enormous in USA.....

there is one in La Ciotat and in Marseille (l'estaque)
and in Port Saint Louis, Port Napoleon there is so much space that they don't need to stack them, but you don't want to go there (its in the middle of nowhere)

thanks everyone.

Will look into this a bit more end of this season if we still have the boat.

...and you said you were just thinking of moving it to Hythe...!

a few years back I almost went halves with a friend to buy an immaculately restored Broom Capricorn in dark green with tan leather... (it was lovely) & it was on Lake Garda with undercover dry stack berthing paid for 9 months. At the time we even went into the cost of flights etc and if you pre-booked far enough ahead they ranged for £5 to £36... and what play ground..!
