After some recent discussions about dry stacks lately we took out boaty down to Saxon WHarf on Friday. I was very impressed with the care they took lifting from the trailer and getting the boat into the water. Despite the fact that they were very busy they took ages getting the straps right and the boat nicely balanced before moving it.

Lefdt the boat on the pontoon over the weekend as we wanted to get out easily, then went for the lift out yesterday. Boat duly lifted washed and racked.

Full marks to the guys there. Very competent and laid back. Would definately recommend them

I will be interested to hear how dusty the boat is when you return. Shamrock bad for dust and the dry stack just round from you suffers badly. You just have to hose down before going out, so it's only an annoyance, but I'd still be interested - your boats are covered in the stack?

The stack is open so I suppose dust might be an issue. Not as bad as at Southampton Stack though which is right next to the scrap yard.

Looking at boats in the stack they don't seem to be too mucky.

Just had a call from Saxon to check if we were happy with how it went at the weekend. A nice gesture.

I think your experience is typical of the MDL dry stack operation. My experience at Cobbs Quay is equal to yours at Saxon Wharf.Always very helpful efficient and professional (Hope Toby and his team read this /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif )

Nice to have something nice to say about the marine industry isn't it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Agree with what you say. We towed my 25ft RIB there yesterday and they were very helpful launching it and recovering it later. They even supplied a battery booster to kick the engine into life. We stood around watching them stack several boats and they took great care with all of them except a US sports boat about 18-20ft which slid off the forks and dropped onto the concrete when they were moving it around on the stack. No harm done as they've got an on site grp repair specialist. By the time we'd got back in you couldn't see any of the cracks
I'd recommend Saxon Wharf especially as it has the cheapest monthly cost at the moment for any dry stack in the area
