Drunken boat Handling

There's probably something in the marina t's & c's which will loosely translate as "don't get pi$$ed and crash into other boats". I think you might suggest to the marina management that they might want to look into enforcing that. If they are disinclined, you are unlikely to be the only person looking to relocate.

I would report the guy to the Marina management, that's what I'd do if it happened in our marina.

You haven't reported me yet. But then, I take incompetence to a higher level.

But seriously, the man is a liability and you have the choice of sitting tight and biting your lip or taking some evidence to the management. You could take photos/video and only show them to the management and don't leave them copies.

Problem with the 'sing like a canary' option is the guy could find out who 'sang', which could lead to serious repercussions if he's that way inclined.

Why not take the cowardly...er...diplomatic option of fixing an anonymous note onto his windscreen telling him his state of inebriation has been noticed, and if it happens again there could be consequences, or summat...

He won't like it, but at least he'll have been forewarned. If he's still at it despite this heads-up, start singing.

(BTW - it's not me, is it? :D )

Hang a series of lengthy fender-boards around the outside (obviously) of an increased number of fenders, on the potentially 'exposed to impact' side of your boat, to demonstrate your concern.

Someone's bound to take the hint, and you, of course, are merely a concerned boat owner trying to protect his property and not wanting to make any waves....so to speak.

Great idea, well done .
I knew someone on the forum would have a cunning plan, I do a little note and sign it scruffy so he cant read it Carlton ;)

You could also report the vessel to the harbour master ...

http://www.conservancy.co.uk/assets/assets/water_byelaws.pdf
No 21: A person shall not navigate any vessel within the
harbour whilst under the influence of drink or drugs to such
an extent as to be incapable of taking proper control of the
vessel.

They should be able to keep an eye out and nab him even before entering the marina ...

Ah, I didn't realise DAKA was in Chichester. In that case he has the byelaws to protect him. Job done. Report him and let them deal with it.

I used to be in Chichester , hadnt you noticed its over a year since I reported an incident Fireball :D

I visited Chichester 2 weeks ago for the first time in ages, and a dinghy tacked straight into my bow, he had a pink spinnaker which I considered would keep him on a stable course but it turned out to be a kite

Returning on BH it was a little fresh and I had to pass through the X boat fleet and to their credit they parted like the red sea allowing us plenty of room in a part of the channel that I wouldnt consider as narrow.

anyway, I digress
I have checked my harbour by laws and you are correct.
