Drones at Sea

I think the guy with the tag stick gave it away. Catch and release. I would be gobsmacked if that Marlin ended up back in Cairns or any other port.

look at the boat. It would be nigh on impossible to land. Hand on the leader counts as a catch.

You will also note that the skipper was really pushing the envelope nearly swamping the boat to get that hand on the leader before the fish tired. This is important so that the fish does not succumb to exhaustion or fall easy prey on release. In fact in one shot you could see the fish still leaping clear of the water long after release such is it's energy.
This takes a lot of skill on behalf of the charter and adds more than A LOT of risk to crew and vessel. So I'd say fair fight and fair do's

Nice find, just had a look on their website, locally built boat by a local designer, specifically for the conditions, I would be more worried about keeping the water out of the exhausts than swamping the boat

The local boats are tough as old boots and heavy, but miss out on the fitout standard enjoyed in other countries (with the exception of Riviera and Maritimo)
