Driving me mad. Signature tune to trailers for \'The Apprentice\' NB

Anyone seen the trailer for the new series 'The Apprentice' on BBC2 with Alan Sugar putting a bunch of potential recruits through their paces for an executive job?

The signature tune for the ad is a very well known piece of classical music, but neither I nor SWMBO, both with a large number of classical CD's, can actually name the blasted thing. It's driving us mad! Can anyone name it?

um, i watched the clip on bbc site - that doesn't have any well known classical music on it but is specially composed?

It does finish with a bit of Pink Floyd though....

errr, just had a look at clip on website. Not the same as trailer. Trailer has shots of Alan Sugar, with forceful Classical music in background, totally different to the internet clip.

The music on the trailer is famous classical piece. Very well known, and driving me mad and swmbo mad, as we can hum it all the way through, and still can't identify it. Spent about an hour on Amazon last night listening to bits of music we thought it might be, and all wrong.

record a bit of you humming into sound recorder and host it, we will try and guess.

eerk, That sounds like it. I've tried a google search on that though, and it comes back with nothing <sigh>

Bernstein is getting me nowhere. I take it you mean as conductor, I can't imagine him composing this piece. I've been wracking brain for over 24 hours now!

I'd have to get SWMBO to warble it, she's the musician. If I hummed it you wouldn't get it in 7 to power of 7 to power of 7

Bollox , its a sensible question ... it was in E minor was'nt it? These personal preferences on tellies are dreadful now .. sense your mood and shift to a different key .. just exaggerates the mood .. feeling sad , oh no the wee bit of Cohen you've put on to cheer you up switches a key and before you know it it getting gloomy .. much better with Hawkwind .. there's sod all they can do to wreck that!!

That's only cos you don't know the answer. Some helpful soul will pop along shortly.

I actually did try typing Tum de dum....etc into google last night in desperation.

In blue terms, very dark register, almost black.
