So now we know that drinking costs our nation £24bn, how much do you ragggies drink when on board, bet it's nowhere near as much as us off Mobo, what with our fridges and G & Ts and ice cold beers. So what's the average consumption when safely tied up?

Bet we can better it!! And at no cost to the NHS!

Where you bin, up so late longjohn - and no spelling mistakes as a result!

Re <<<Bet we can better it!! >>> I note among the report's other findings - "Men in unskilled jobs drink the most among males" (pirates exempted, naturally)

Out here just know what was in the media - but some good, sounds like a fun life plus sounds like the pubs are going to be able to stay open longer.

Why do you have to be safely tied up?

Drinking in a F2. Easy peasy oh.

Drinking in a F4. Requires some dexterity and balance between hand & mouth. Competitive element comes into it plus a desire not to spill one's drink.

Drinking in a F6. Now, that sorts out the men from the boys!

Drinking in a F8. You shouldn't be out there. (Should be in the bar.)

Just a question... If drinkinininge costs £24bn, how much money does HM Govt make on duty on booze?....

Re: Drinking? Drinking?

Your rag and stick man is not a drinking man.

We are all dedicated, clean living, athletes commited to excellence. Our steely determination to wring the last 001% knot out of our vessels prevents us dimming our senses with booze. Our finely tuned intellects, honed by complex navigation and the constant recitation of the ColRegs, calls for total abstinence.

Why on earth would a man who's just shaved 30 mins of his 15hr passage time to Cherbourg need a drink. The adrenaline is more than enough.

Re: Drinking? Drinking?

I find that it is the prospect of missing last orders that gets the extra half knot out of my crew

Hate to admit it, actually forgot I'd made the post and had to read it again just now, must have been the 4 pints of whatever it was last nite!!

From \"The Yachtsman\'s Week End Book\" (1930\'s).....

Oh, "Water is the Only Thing"
The Temperance Band all sing;
But who am I, that I should have
The best of everything?

Let Statesmen revel at the pump,
Peers with the pond make free;
Whisky, beer, or even wine
Is good enough for me!
