here it gets interesting - for many people drinking 2 large cans of Stella Lager would get them failing a breath test - body mass and timing factors would impact on a blood test result; interesting if you have the right to demand a blood sample is taken.......you are breathalised Sat night arriving late in St Marys Scillies or Sark CIs - earliest likely blood test?????

also interesting is that starting at 1200h (late) on a hot day, including some activity and a reasonable consecutive consumption of water and by 2200h the consumption of 10 pints of fosters would be unlikely to see a large guy with a good liver over the limit............ring any bells? Easy enough to test nowadays

Absolutely

1 1/2 pints is a measure

a glass is not, If they'd said a 125mm glass of wine we would know, but journalists shouldn't expect their readers to know facts to pad out their poor reporting.

It would seem then that the limit for boats is higher than the limit for driving. As far as I know (and please correct me on this) the drink drive limit is one unit of alcohol, which translates exactly to one 330ml bottle of Carlsberg.

So, as 1 1/2 pints would then appear to translate roughly into two units then we should take delight in knowing the fact that over the course of a day, as said, you can drink many times this number and provided you keep about an hour between beverages (for the average adult male can absorb one unit of alcohol per hour) then you need never fear being over the limit.

These limits could also cause the police some headaches. Since the limit is higher for boaters then they're going to have to get brand new breathalizers to enforce this new law. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
