Planning to fit Swan neck at mast to tidy up wiring so I don't have to strip all the fittings each year to get the wires out when the mast comes down.

What tool should I use to cut a 36mm hole for this in the deck of my Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 32.2?

It is far better to buy a proper holesaw like this one, they cost more but do a much better job. Surprisingly after you buy one you will find other things to do with them. You will also need a mandrel and pilot drill but that can be used on a wide range of holesaws as you build your collection. My biggest is 125 mm which I used to install a windlass.

If you're thinking of wood boring augers, I'd say no. The coarse drill type will most likely simply rip a gaping hole if you have enough torque to make it cut. A flat blade auger isn't really sharp enough for GRP and will melt or burn the material. A hole saw is definitely the way to go.

Get a proper hole saw like the one suggested. Usually in stock at Screwfix. Around £10 for saw and arbor. Don't bother with those cheapy sets.

Starrett are the best holesaws.
Available in 35 and 37mm.
I would try the 35mm.
It's best not to force the saw, but let the teeth do the cutting.
Raise and lower the saw slightly to clear the cuttings as you go, then it won't grab and jam.
Screwfix do them.

hole saw best way to go but could ae done by drilling hole as guide then using jigsaw - just done this to put access hatch in dinghy
