Cobra MR F55 EU and Lowrance 3500C Globalmap gave excellent service in my boat. The Lowrance particularly.
After a cold winter - we hit -35C for a few days .... when I went to test the gear just before launch - the Lowrance had the screen flicker that has doomed a few sets .... and the Cobra just kept blowing fuses ...
I tried all - removed them and left them in the model workshop where warm and dry.
Every so often I would apply a 12v and give a test ... but no joy.
I bit the bullet and replaced both .. Onwa KP-39A - very pleased with it. Cobra MR77B GPS E ... again very happy.
Being 'laid up' still recovering from spinal surgery - I dragged the old units out while waiting for a 3D print to complete ....
BOTH units working correctly ... the Lowrance and the Cobra 55 ....
I'm not daft enough to trust out at sea again ... but the Lowrance has my own complied charts of the River and my home mooring area .... (yes I can create and compile charts for Lowrance and a few other makes ... a hobby !). Therefore its destined to be fitted to my Soviet Speedboat .... which we use for fun and fishing.
The Cobra VHF ? Not sure what to do with it to be honest ... first would be to delete the MMSI / DSC entry of my main boat ... maybe fit to the speedboat as well ....
