Dremel Type Tool

Flexi Extension Any Good?

Thanks for the responses. Sounds like the concensus is the Dremel.

Is the extension Flexi-shaft useful? It looks as ifit should be, hence why it was on my wishlist, but is it really much more useful than a cordless Dremel handheld? The hand-piece of the extension doesn't look much smaller than the Dremel itself.

Would a Dremel allow me to remove tiles without breaking them?

It will remove the grouting as would a grouting removal tool

but that wont be your problem!
The problem is freeing the cement from behind the tile without the tile breaking.
I have found that it can be done by 'injecting' water along the top of the tile over a period of about two days (once you have removed the grouting), leave for another couple of days for the water to dampen the cement, then set to work trying to twist the tile rather than be tempted to prise out, as nine times out of ten it will break!

...as nine times out of ten it will break!

Last time I did this I was fixing a leak on the shower. Fortunately this was on plasterboard and a hacksaw blade cut through both grout and board.

This is on a window alcove above a sink. Tiled all sides. And I need to fit a shaver socket. It's needed doing for ten years!

I have ONE spare tile :(

Very useful though not using it for boaty purposes... it is excellent for polishing the silver jewellery I make and useful for drilling small holes in pieces too! The Skipper bought a kit for some boaty purpose (a one off use) and I appropriated it after it languished in a locker for ages - best bit of kit I have had for free!!
