Dredger Charlemagne

I hovered clear of the Orwell fairway Monday for the imperious passage of the well named dredger 'Charlemagne' as she came back down unladen from Ipswich.
What a striking vessel with high bow , forward superstructure and gear all looking in splendid condition despite her 2002 vintage.
Not the look of your normal dredger.

Her owners think she's a suction dredger but with all that equipment maybe she has dual capability.

I love all the ships that go up and down the Orwell, especially at night when they're all lit up. They make it feel like a proper river and not just a caravan site for yachts.
