My late father in started in accountancy in Glasgow shortly after WW2, and started crewing in Dragon’s racing on the Clyde.
He has a picture of Dragon UK 129 Peregrine racing off Dunoon - which we believe was owned by T Campbell Lawson (possibly co-owned with Robert Urie#). We suspect, from later references to “Peregrines”, that my father in law sometimes crewed on this boat. This seems to be plausible as we found an entry in his address book for T Campbell Lawson, who we believe was an accountant in Glasgow - but have no further information.
From online searches, I suspect that this is the same T Campbell Lawson who:
(a) later commissioned the McGruer 8-Metre Camelia of Rhu, which he reportedly owned from 1959 to 1978; and
(b) bought the famous (Charles Rennie McIntosh designed and fitted out) Hill House in Helensburgh, which he owned from 1953 to 1972.
Does anybody have any other information / insights on either T Campbell Lawson (and in particular anything on which firm of accountants he was with) and/or the Dragon Peregrine.
Thanks
#PS. Since discovered that T C Lawson may have married a Ms Urie, presumably a relative of Robert Urie.
