Hi,

can anyone provide an insight into the Draco 34 Zircon. I know it was a predecessor to some of the later Windy models. I am keen to hear anyones views on the sea keeping capability and likewise any negatives etc..

thank you

I’ve worked extensively on one in past years.
It’s a shame Moody no longer comes on here as he had one for many years and cruised extensively on his.
I know it has some osmosis when he sold it .
It also had the Yamaha engines and drives which was my part of it , good base unit from the Toyota Landcruiser 4.2 .
The drive was a hydra drive which while worked very well there damm expensive to maintain .
They also did them with volvos in , one of which I know of for sale if your interested in buying.

Thanks Paul, im looking at one with Yamaha engines at the moment, done 1300hrs - used to be south coast based - what area did the one with osmosis go to do you know?

I have been fortunate enough to test nearly every model if Draco and Windy, and Windy are the benchmark in seakeeping and handling. They were a follow on from Draco when the two companies merged and then Windy superceded Draco, I own a 32 yr old Draco 24 and recently drove it 25 miles along the coast in 2 meter waves, it was me who was the weakest link as the boat happily charged along, they are very solid boats and handle well if the going gets rough.
