I've a query / problem with the trim on my DPH drive on SC35

Starboard drive only trims up/down if I've also got the port drive switched on

The Stbd trim pump is definitely getting its power from the stbd side (as the voltage drops that side when I use it).

Is this correct or is there a wiring problem somewhere?

Thanks

Darryl

Isn't there a tie bar connecting the port and starboard drives together ? I don't suppose it'd be very happy if one drive tilted and the other didn't !!

DP-H Drives with a tie bar can be lifted independently.
With the older DP-X drives with tie bars ... I'm imagining a very loud and expensive "twang" type sound.

I don't doubt what you wrote. That must be quite a sophisticated mechanical arrangement. The tie bar on the twin DPH boat next to mine is attached to where 2 of the steering rams are on a single installation. It''d need to articulate in both the up/ down and horizontal axis because as one drive rises, a fixed bar ( horizontal axis) would pull them closer together. ? Or is that what they they do anyhow?

The steering on the DPH is hydraulic, so if the drives get pulled together, it's just fluid going through a valve somewhere.

Thanks for the comments - my mechanic's going to check on everything today.

We'd had an electrical problem elsewhere - various bits had been swapped across to identify the problem so I'd thought this might be related - in reality, it's probably always been like this and I've never noticed.

The only time I've ever wanted one drive up and the other down was when I was on my coastal skipper course and one of the drives caught a rope so we partially raised one leg to keep the remaining rope out of the way of the good prop
