cannot help feeling that under marine conditions a method of getting some grease in there would prolong its life, especially considering just how much grief and expence it is if/when it fails ?

There is another grease nipple on the DPG 290 (Take it same on DPE as very similar to DPG) that a lot of people forget to grease/ maintain. In the engine bay (on the back of the transom) there is a grease nipple … it is greasing the shaft that turns the outdrive.

ive just replaced those nipples as mine where knackered. They are M10 if it helps anyone ?

yep, tends to block up as its a pain to reach

For greasing the steering a flexible hose on the grease gun was a good investment.
