DP-D1 selector question

Hi all, I have just replaced the clutch cone, sliding sleeve etc on the D1 and was advised to change the selector due to mod changes on the clutch which I agreed with. I put the top assembly back on and all was good until I went to fit the drive cover. Went to fit the top screw and then discovered there was no thread to screw in to. The new selector hasn't got the lug with the female thread for the cover screw. I went back to VP and they are looking into it. The question is please, does anybody know if it was really necessary to fit a new selector and if so, how do you get around the problem of the missing lug.

It sounds as if the selector is a DP-E style one without the integrated lug.
Part number 854713 is the additional bit you need ... about £20 for a triangular piece of metal with three holes in it
