Just a few cables from Boulters Lock

Ran down past D'Oyly Carte Island at Weybridge and surprised to find it completely empty of boats. One of the lockies said it has been sold and new owners dont want any boats moored there.
Carried on down to Teddington and not much evidence that the moorings enforcement is having miluch effect around Sunbury, Hampton, Molesey and Teddington.

I emailed Richmond and Kingston Councils to ask what they intend to do with regard to the council moorings, but no reply. I think the run up to Sunbury lock is becoming a lost cause. Spelthorne are toothless.
I can't see the situation improving until one agency takes responsibility as the councils aren't joined up, that's for sure.

It was like that at Easter. One solitary dutch barge type vessel, that's been there for years and tears - well all the time we've been on the River. Very sad because it once was a good looking boat...

I think I know the one you mean, but its not there now.
Not a single boat moored around the whole island apart from the remains of a wooden houseboat that didn't survive the floods of Jan 2014.

I believe the island went for approx £4m.

Obliged.
Sad, though. It must be an awkward property to maintain - the bridge must be a killer. The house could de with some reformatting to restore it to it's former glory Edwardian (?) glory.
Awkward to fit in a heli-pad - lorra trees

Sudden thought - is it Grade * listed? HeHe.......

The flowers that Bloom in the Spring - tra-La

Ah yes Savill's said it's Grade 2 - so it must be so.
Lovely interior, filled with hired furniture for the occasion...
£4m seems quite 'inexpensive' for the location Weybridge innit. Probbly need loadsa' dosh spent to hold the structure up. Private ferry to Steve's island or tat chandlery - even an electric Chentleman's launch would be nice.

Well, the inside is a bit of a revelation given the outside has always looked so uncared for. Might need a lot of work but someone's got a good buy.

What's the latest with this?

Has anyone been past recently? Has the mooring gone?

What are they doing with the main building? I heard they were turning it into a hotel.
