Downright strange boat names

I'm racking my brains trying to think of strange yacht model names, the ones that don't quite work.

"What are you sailing these days?"

"Oh, I've got a secondhand Scampi. And you?"

"I've got a small Feeling."

I can immediately think of the Pogo, the Cantieri Koala, the Amel Mango (not to mention the SuperMaramu) and the aforementioned Scampi. Even a Moody could sound a bit funny in the future, as could a Sunbeam. And as for the Comfortina, I think that sounds like a 1970s police car.

Any more suggestions?

Nauticat always seems an odd name for that sort of boat while Bente probably worked better in its native country - similarly the Compis. Only Ozzies got the joke about Eygthene 24 and your friends might be confused if you said you owned a Waarship. If you want a realy obscure one, how about the Wee Willie Winkie

Although I love them, Etap is a strange name for a boat. As anyone who travels in Europe will know, Etap is a hotel chain.

Lovely boats. About £8,750 delivered to the UK, iirc, and a grand extra if you wanted a teak wheelhouse.

For Dutch speakers, a counterproductive name is the German marque ROMMEL
Not only is there the faint rumbling of tanks, but in Dutch it just means "rubbish"!

It is strange that words translate and have many different meaning or feelings in other languages.

If I recall wasn’t ‘Durex’ the brand name of Sellotape in the USofA?

It is therefore very wise to choose the name of your boat very carefully if you intend to cross national borders.

Now, who knows what ‘ Mitsubishi’s Pajero’ actually means in Spanish?
