Hi all,

We have developed a small leak in one of the bog saloon windows on our Moody and need to remove and remake the exterior sealant.

I believe Dow 791 is the best stuff to use as UV resistant etc, is this correct?

And no, not taking the windows out and doing it as only a small leak and a MAJOR job on our boat to get the windows out!

Thanks

DTD

Any of the pu sealants would work obd1, pu40, ct1 etc. I’ve had this problem on my Moody and the trick is to try to be sure which of the possible failure points is responsible, frame to boat, outside edge seal to frame, inner edge seal to glass or the seals that hold the 2 halves of the frame. In the end I sealed them all. I laid 2 tracks of masking tape and put the sealant between the tracks and then almost immediately removed the tape, looks ok. Ultimately if you do rebed the window use butyl glazing tape, it seals very well and never sets solid.
