We are thinking of going there as part of our summer hols. On an official looking harbour authority web site for Douglas says that the maximum LOA accepted in the marina is 12m. Photo's I have seen look as if there are larger boats than 12m. Does anyone have any local knowledge. Our boat's 13.5m LOA.

Any recommendations about where else to "park up" at IOM for a few days?

Thanks.

Hello
Isle of Man a great destination.Douglas Harbourmaster very helpful, suggest you give them a ring.I was there a couple of weeks ago and there were larger than 12m inside. Peel is very nice on the west coast and is worth a visit either by boat or bus

as smiler says check with the harbour master, they will do their best to accomodate you. But avoid the auto fueling in Douglas, a total nightmare, its like a 60' high up slot machine that is so picky.

As others have said check with Habour Master, generally they will accept up to 14m without too much trouble, just check they are not sticking you up against the wall if busy, its a nightmare, fag butts, beer cans etc from weekend revellers. If blowing N or NE don't stay out on the outer break water pontoon, its all rock n' roll and hellish banging of the steel pontoons as they roll in the swell, better to tie up alongside a fishy boat on the King Edward Pier. Fuel tokens can be got from Manx marine at the inner harbour and you fill from the outer breakwater, only as Debs mentioned its a bit mickey mouse.

Micky Mouse.

You have to find a way of mooring your self, against a 60ft wall. Then have to pass, the pipe down, within a few seconds. Mostly the pump switches off. You then ring the bloke, to reset the thing. Then you drag all the pipe up, to put gun into holster.

After a bit of training and practice, you learn how to pass the pipe down quick enough.
