Good luck with the sale of the s23, shouldn't be a problem as there is always a market for one of Sealine's most popular models.
A 28ft boat is where you begin to really notice the difference, twin engines etc have a big impact on weight & therefore seakeeping qualities, not to mention all that extra space.
If you have your sights set on a Doral I would try too see a Prestancia before you makeup your mind.
I know the Prestancia will be a lot more than the 300sc but IMHO it's more than worth the extra.
The Doral 300SC is not a Doral of Today but a Jeanneu of the late 90's! It was designed and built by Jeaneau under the doral brand so consider it french quality...not the newer canadian quality.
Good size, big interior but not the quality oif post 2000 dorals. Also most have thirsty 5ltr twin petrols.
French!!, Oh dear sounds a bit of a mongrel.
Expect parts to be a problem, no wonder there so scarce.
Take caution, I would expect the price reflects the fact it's Badged DORAL & you might not be getting the quality associated with it's newer & genuine cousins, I'm sure the seller wishes it was the Canadian built version.
Were they molded in Canada & assembled in France or did the French make the hulls as well?
Well, we've been to see her and we like. Her owners are coming to view ours tomorrow so all fingers are crossed. I'm trying not to get too excited at such an early stage.
Hi Anne,
Did I hear you right, you are doing a trade?
How long has the Doral been up for sale?, what are the intentions of the owners regards your s23?
Only reason I ask is if they have been trying to sell this doral for a time with no takers then to PX it for something more popular to sell on might be appealing to them leaving you with the nightmare they are trying to get out of.
Be very carefull.
I obviously dont know the circumstances surrounding the deal but if they are looking to trade then I would be suspicious as hell. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Yes, a part ex is on the cards if each party likes the others boat. Both boats are being sold through the same brokerage (different branches). Their boat has only just come up on the market. They are wanting to down size for what appears to be very valid reasons - we met the owner today and are comfortable with the reasoning (it isn't appropriate for me to discuss their private reasons on a public forum so I'll honour their privacy). We are quite happy with the situation at present but will be careful - thanks for your tip.
1. Not mad at all thanks! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif. It will be a part exchange if it goes through. The Doral's owners put their boat up for sale with the broker and then saw ours. Ours has been up for sale with a different branch of the same brokerage since last year. Therefore we were introduced to each other via the brokerage. We would have preferred not to pay a commission but decided we didn't want the bother of selling privately. They have done their job so far.
2. Engines are twin Yanmar 240hp.
3. Thanks! (I think my partner Paul wished you the same when you were buying yours - you have an S23 like us I think?)
shafts with a bow thruster. I know it isn't common in boats of this type and size - is there a reason for this? Are shafts in this type of boat a good thing?
