Hi

Does anyone know where I can source some replacement door latches. Mine are failing due to the internal springs breaking with age. The trouble is the doors themselves are only about 20mm in depth so the latches need to be pretty narrow and I'm struggling to find any.

Any recommendations?

Southco show an extensive range (but, when I tried to buy from their list, they offered 100 with a 74 week lead time!).

The Scandinavian boat builders use these narrow latches quite a bit. The brand names to look for are McCoy and Mobella.

McCoy do narrow mortice latches which require a 13mm wide cutout, just about feasible in your 20mm door, although they suggest 22mm minimum. See http://www.laasservice.no/file/produkt-filer/produktblad-mccoy.pdf-1

Onmar offer a Slim mortice latch which is suitable for 19mm doors, see http://www.onmar.se/pub_docs/files/produktinfo/SlimSwing_webb.pdf

Alternatively, you could use flush door latches which just have a thin plate on each side of the door, sandwiching the mechanism. See http://www.onmar.se/offshore-swing-door-lock--flush-mount-p-1198-c-271.aspx

These latches aren't cheap unfortunately. A good website to explore is Onmar's - http://www.onmar.se Hallberg-Rassy Parts also sell a selection of these latches/locks, see http://www.hr-parts.com/contents/en-us/d98.html
