In a recent post where I was congratulating Mrs Beaton's boy Donald on his recent purchase and testing the prospects of his hospitality he made a passing, somewhat disparaging remark about the state of my faithful old Blackpool and Fleetwood Burgee.
Somewhat cut to the quick, I reflected on the remarks and as Dear Heart has temporaily left me this week, decided I could combine some conviviality with a bit of burgee upgrading and took myself off to the Hallowed National Lottery Sponsored Portals of the Royal and Ancient Blackpool and Fleetwood Yacht Club.
Twenty Bleeding Quid for a new burgee. I bought the last one on April 20th 1992 and it cost me £6 - (paid cash).
I did notice as I staggered out in a joint state of shock and inebriation that the Commode is driving a rather large fairly new Peugeot car - am I right to feel suspicious, should the RYA be told? Will Donald give me a contribution as it was he who ws directly responsible for this expenditure?

Is this on top of twelve quid for a Scuttlebutt Burgee?
And then which would have seniority in your crosstrees?

Geeez

Twenty quid is a bit steep!!!
Think you have been done there mate.
Join the Kyles of Bute Sailing Club - £18 for a hand made effort - really smart. Mind you have you seen the price of a CCC burgee?!

Can I offer you a dram as recompense?

Donald

Re: Geeez

Good idea - but get the next size up. Longer it stays at your crosstrees the more it shrinks..... deflation?
