Saw the original Miami vice cigarette is apparently up for $20m. Silly price I’d think.
 
I was lucky enough to be living on the Solent in the 1960 s

The Cigarette was in 1967 a really big step forward with a speed of over 66 mph over the course.
A record that stood for a few years.

No designated spectator areas in those days .
It was sometimes you were very close indeed as they passed back past Cowes soon after the start.

watched it last, holy cow what a load of crud!!!!

Apart from the massive continuity issues and the fact that the 1960s shots had modern outboard covers and Monaco shots were filmed abaord a modern Squeeker or similar it was still a load of crud...

But it killed two hours.
