In Mikes photo's the compressor start and run capacitors and black relay (controlled by the PCB) can be seen in #26 second image from top.
Great news !I did a factory reset - and it didn't work.
So, in frustration, I did another factory reset and that time it worked.
So, maybe the reset needs to be done twice.
In the past, I have come across electronics that does this king of thing.
As it said in the manual, all the settings are reset to default (degrees F etc)
Moving on:-
Today, I had some other success.
For years,I have had one A/C unit that was running low on refrigerant.
I have had several "professionals" to look at it - all saying that it was low on gas.
So, today, I had a go at it myself.
Over the last year or so, I have been teaching myself about refrigeration.
I'm an engineer (formally trained as a heating, ventilation engineer) but I have never had any experience in refrigeration.
Upon inspection, I found that the "professionals" have been using grips on the low pressure valve port of that unit making it very difficult to operate the valve.
In fact, it was very stiff and I just managed to ease it.
I guess that most of the "professionals" gave up and just charged me.
I suspect that, over the years, they have been charging me for doing nothing.
It has taken a long time - lots of reading and loads of Youtube videos later, I bought my own testing tools (gauges etc) and had a go myself.
It has been a real nightmare getting R417A refrigerant at a sensible price - UK suppliers wanting as much as 800/900 quid for a 5Kg cylinder.
Eventually I found an Italian supplier able to supply 6 off 900g cylinders at a sensible price.
Anyway, after some careful research and the correct tools, it was clear that my system was just low on refrigerant.
I think it has been like that since new after I had some warranty work done on it in its first year.
Anyway, it now runs perfectly and I have learned yet another skill.
PROFESSIONALS !!!!
So, success on two fronts and all my AC systems are now fully functioning.
