Dolphin Engine - Lumenition Ignition - Long shot

Ahoy !
Appreciate this is an old thread but suspect that the owners of the early reversing Dolphin will be able to help. My engine has stopped firing on No. 2 cylinder, ahead and astern, so suspect a faulty condenser as I have a poor orange spark. Problem is where are they ? Nasty instalation, control panel is obscured by engine.

Normally next to the points (sometimes part of the points assembly), sometimes mounted at/on the coil.
You could try attaching a condenser for an early mini at the coil as a temporary expedient until you can locate & replace the original.

Hi n1
Tracked problem down. Due to the use of dual coils time was spent tracking a low spark on No.2 cylinder. but this was a red herring as a good earth solved this problem but on backtracking to the basics it was discovered that by putting a finger over spark plug holes we had lost compression on that cylinder ! Doh !

Hi Jim. I have the same problem and was off to the boat today to investigate further with the hope of finding simple solution....darn it! I think I secretly knew it wasnt going to be cheap and simple! The repair will have to wait another few weeks, I think its pretty straightforward to fix diy, I have all manuals etc if you need any.
