Doing away with cockpit BBQs

Stand by for some idle muttering now that I'm boatless :o

Trawling through boat adverts the one thing which has struck me is that a cockpit and fly bridge BBQ takes up a lot of space for something which is never used by us. The usual arrangement is a GRP cabinet containing a fridge, BBQ and sink.

Sure, if I was in the med this would be great but how difficult would it be to remove and mould in extra seating and under storage instead?
 
Depends on the boat, some are bolted to the deck so easy to remove, others are formed into the mould. Either way you have to deal with the water, drain and electric services and the holes in the deck that they come through, so there is GRP work, but it's all do-able, just a case of how much it costs. I moved the BBQ unit on my flybridge from one position to another, modified the moulding that was left, took out a cooler and chopped the moulding down to create more seating.

I started a thread about it at the time, but it was a long time ago, so I wouldn't know how to find it.
