Dog's home suffering

Re: Dog\'s home suffering

I still rate the town side at Windsor as being the best value. Hard edge, decent depth, occasional chance of a mooring ring and they credit the fiver against the entry fee for the leisure centre.

I have, I must admit, used a bit of blarney to get the Brocas fee set off against the leisure centre fee a couple of times but it is not supposed to, allegedly.

Re: Dog\'s home suffering

Ian I am surprised you don't use the moorings at the Upper Thames MYC instead of the Great House/Geller moorings. These are excellent, have water/electric and open to members of other clubs. An additional bonus is the really good security. Make sure you get the code off someone to get back in if you go into Sonning to eat, get papers, shopping whatever.

Re: Dog\'s home suffering

I have considered the UTMYC moorings but I was led to believe that they don't like visitors leaving their boat unattended.
I've never been in there by boat, maybe I'll give them a try if I can find out who to contact.

Re: Dog\'s home suffering

Ian.
UTMYC always welcome boats from other ATYC affiliated clubs, so long as they have made prior arrangements with the club secretary. www.utmyc.org
There is power available from coin operated metres. Clearly the power supplied to annual berth holders is paid for by them, so please don't use that.
Water is also available.
It is true that we do not encourage visitors to leave their boats unattended, but that does not include a trip into the village!! Incidentally, the shop in Sonning is I believe defunct. It has become a very useable Indian Restaurant, so I am told.
UTMYC is very fortunate to have such a beautiful site for their clubhouse and we are happy to share it, by prior arrangement, so long as no club event is scheduled.

By unattended they mean leaving the boat and going off for days. Nipping out for shopping, meal etc. is OK. You don't need contact anyone, just go in and take one of the two spaces outside of the clubhouse and leave enough space for someone else to come in too. If there's a Flag Officer about then OK. If not.... moor up.

Re: Dog\'s home suffering

...most of the time.....I tried to do just that last week (as a member) but visitors moorings all occupied by the "treasurer" so ended up on the Public moorings. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Re: Dog\'s home suffering

The visitor's area is approx 100 feet and the Treasurer's boat is only 39 feet. Even he was "generously moored", if asked, he would have been pleased to make space. There are also boats with permanent alongside berths who understand that visiting boats may moor outside them, including mine.
Did you have your UTMYC burgee flying?
Did you ask the Treasurer if he would mind making some space?
I find it hard to believe that he would have refused and I will be pleased to question him on this next time I see him.
Please clarify either on this forum or by PM.
