My dog is now 10 years old, rheumatic and so needs lifting on and off the boat. She also suffers from epileptic fits. Because of the latter complaint we have decided not to leave her any more and so are looking for dog friendly - (?grass nearby and easy access to walks) - marinas on the south coast along with dog friendly eating houses etc.

Any imput from other doggy boaters welcomed.

Darthaven on the R. Dart is dog friendly and has grass and walks right next to the marina. You can take your dog into the pubs and the Royal Castle in Dartmouth even gives you dog biscuits! I live here and have a dog as well.

Chichester, loads of walks , canal, sea view walks etc , walk from marina to Dell Quay , pub there has a very good relationship with dogs , always bowls of water outside and inside.beer as well!!

As I'm sure you know very few marinas cater for dogs, and its more a case of pot luck if they have a bit of waste ground nearby. Lymington Marina has a large area of grass at the back of the car park, a small park next door, and the Mayflower pub has a large outdoor area and provides water for dogs.

After years of Lobbying by me Ramsgate now allow dogs. Of course they waited until I'd sold my bleedin' boat /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Hello Byron, we have not met but your reputation has been noted!

One of your old boats (Ocean Egret) ought to be in Ramsgate this weekend with John Oram - he threatened to join us en route to France. No dogs, though!
