Gosport Ferry 2030 on a Saturday. Everyone should do it at least once. All human life is there, most of it tattooed and missing items of clothing once considered to be essential.

As to the girl in the see-through mini dress - no textiles visible underneath - the battle to be the first of the lads following her up the slipway made a six-nations rolling maul seem like a vicarage tea party.

Yottin' link - there were a few boats in the Gunwharf 'marina'.

Goport is famous for its prostitutes and old slappers :D

Can understand lack of clothing in summer but they dress the same mid-winter.
 
It's a good night out to be had in Pompey. I was in Tiger Tiger not long back, and chap bumped into me and spilt a bit of my drink and by way of apology he offered to beat me up.
 
I once walked down Gosport High St late one Saturday evening. As someone with an appreciation of the finer points of the female form, it left me traumatised for life and my retinas still bear the scars.

They just don't make beer goggles strong enough :eek:

Try the ferry at 0030, and the live music and good cameraderie in the following pubs...

I grew up in Pompey and left as soon as I could. I went back a couple of years ago.

What's happened to the place? It's all been gentrified.There are pubs that serve food, even, and one afternoon I was in a pub on the hard and didn't feel the need to be on my guard and hang onto my pint at all!

Very tame compared to the 70's

We had a wander round the hard the other night - if you get away from the front there are still one or two pubs where the barmaids have more tattoos than teeth and would probably beat you at arm wrestling, but on the whole they are suffering the creep of the Wetherspoons and the student/tourist trade.

We are talking about a trip down to the Air Balloon or the Mother Shipton next time to see if they have managed to hang on to the old standards...:)

Yep Pompey was a good run-ashore in the 70's when we had a Navy, that the boozers catered for.
The only pub that still does is the PT (Park Tavern) Jack one side of the pub & Navy Dykes on the other.
Foul mouthed bunch of old tarts they are.
 
The days of Joanna's and the Pyramids are a distant memory now for me - but Saturday night heading back to Haslar Marina after some post RTIR food at Gunwharf it all came flooding back to me. As a young Midshipman I was invited to join the Provost on a Saturday night in the 'Meat Wagon' positioned outside the strip on the seafront - I was staggered then as to the sights - but those 'young' ladies now have daughters who follow that strong heritage (as indeed do those not so 'young' ladies).

Good to know that the some things never change
