Does the Wash wash

Keep it quiet though, and make sure the inflatable dragons are ready to deploy /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif well it's such an orrible place really, innit /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Oh, and SimpleSimon may well be along for the ride too

i should have the boat fixed by may,i also want to find out more about this fishing lark.

It be enjoyable to have a meet and a barbie on the sand /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Shout if you need a hand Matt, if we get moving we can launch Glisando at either slipway, then overnight at Fosdyke for a tenner before heading out. The fish are worth it alone

Not having sailed on the Wash we've been looking at it as an option, especially with a shoal draft twin keeler.

We bought 'Tidal havens of the wash and humber' by Henry Irving (Imray). No idea if its accurate but the descriptions are very full and certainly whetted our appetite.

Maybe this summer we'll give it a try (or next year??)

How would the wash locals here rate this pilot?

Assuming I have managed to get Sirenia seaworthy in time, my plans are to pass though the Wash some time during the weekend of the 2nd May following a river trip from Cambridge and a mast raising in Kings Lynn.
Possible stop off in Wells if there is all-tide access then.
If not straight round to Lowestoft and then on to the Deben.

At the end of May I hope to end up in Ostend again.

That's great news Clive - I hope it all comes together.

Keeping fingers crossed Clive, and similar timing to you. Harbour fees are due on 1st March so hoping to get to Wells as soon as possible after then. Don't think the harbour will be all states by then but can't get through to the harbour master to check at the moment. Last chat we had with him he was talking about putting us on a fore and aft mooring as he wasn't sure how she would sit on the sand, somehow I don't think that's going to be a problem /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi Baston Jack If you are going into the River Nene you sail through Holbeach Marsh, best to do this with plenty of water and keep to the marked channel (no cutting corners!). There is a buoy you can moor to near the mouth of the river, until the swing bridge is ready for you as well as the pontoon. They do like warning that you would like the bridge opening. If you contact Wisbech Marina they have all the details you would need. If your mooring is at Sutton Bridge you would not need to go through the bridge. We had a yacht moored at Wisbech for sometime.

I'll give Ken a shout when we decide a date

I should look in here a bit more often! Usually expect "East coast" to end just north of the Deben. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Nice to see some action a bit further north.
Plans are to head even further north for an extended trip this year.

Bumped into Jkay by accident at Newark, so at least we both know who to look out for now! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Shamal, I've got the Henry Irvine book and would recommend it. Mine is probably a bit out of date, but still a good guide. Only alteration I would make is the description of the entrance to Wainfleet Haven - it's actually a giant slalom course on water! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
