Bit off dilema, the blue hull is really faded in places and commentators have said paint it / others say it'll polish, any comments from the forum as to how well G3 or an equivalent works on a really tired gel coat. Ideally l'd like to polish it coz my job list is getting longer instead of shorter, views please.

I polished my boat (white) the other week using G3 & the finish was superb. Someone had dumped a small Red Speedboat under my bow. The Gel Coat on the Speedboat was seriously faded, as Red does. My mate, who was feeling mean, polished a bit of the Speedboat with the G3 & it came up like new. What else can I say!

The cautious way forward is to try G10 first (remarkably effective) and resort to G3 if this doesn't work. Different sponges if using an electric polisher. Either way, use a water spray.

We use a middle route, G7, done two 30 year old hulls now, no problems.
We work a different way, apply with a sponge, then polish of when dry with a lambs wool mop, not sure if it's right or wrong, just how I watched a boatbuilder polishing the hull plugs.
