Does anyone REALLY use their foredeck cushions?

No cushions for us but the coachroof being raised makes it a lovely spot to sit with a morning coffee or a sundowner. The bow section (focs’le) has just enough room for a couple of fold up chairs should we want to linger longer.

Our Fairline Targa had bow cushions that we put on one year but they didn’t last long. A complete waste of space! 😁

So that's 99% no then. Designers, STOP IT.
Most boats don’t come with the cushions..they are an optional extra and an expensive one at that…over a thousand. Of course it might come bundled with something you do want…like a VHF radio 🤷🏼‍♂️😳

We always use ours, had new ones made when we bought the boat and also had an expensive towelling cover made, stored on the dinning table when the boats not in use, one of the first jobs when we get there is to put the cushions out.

Same here … foredeck is one of the most used areas on the boat.

Moored stern to in a busy marina it’s the best place for sunbathing and chilling out with some privacy. When we‘re at anchor with a lot of people onboard there always seems to be a couple of people up there. The foredeck has a separate AV zone, so popular with teenagers who want to get away from parents and listen to their own music. It’s also a great place to be on a long slow cruise back to the marina as the sun sets.

They‘re a bit of a faff to fit … lots of zips which are hard to reach … so if the weather‘s good I usually leave them out and protect them with a vinyl cover. I do wish the UK manufacturers of covers and canopies for Sunseeker, Princess, etc. would spend some time looking at how the boats are actually used in the Med … their designs are not great and locally made versions can make life a lot easier.

Yep agree with all that. Foredeck sitting for me is the most relaxing place, there's nothing mechanical, no outstanding jobs to complete (apart from cleaning, see pic). Maybe being closer to the elements and a largely unobstructed view helps and if mas you say, moored stern too you have a bit of privacy but also that feeling of being in the sea, floating. I'm feeling quite spiritual lately, hence the waffling 🙂

On anchor fore-deck sun-pads are nice to have here in the Med. It is magic in most days to have a breeze and be in the sun without feeling hot.

Also if you do not know they create an insulation, reducing temperatures by a couple degrees if not more (with or without) in the cabin below.
For that alone once it starts to be hot around end June, I put them on and leave till about September.

The cushions on most boats are a pain to store. All these new boats have loads on the foredeck to make them 'Multi Functional'.
In my 40 years of boating around the world, no one wants to be up front, often slamming and windy.

At anchor may offer a shelter for a brandy and cigar or a morning coffee. Otherwise why do we lug these foredeck cushions with us?
......and open the throttle hard on your Targa 43 and watch your guests clinging on for dear life as the boat nose goes up and they slide towards an unplanned dunking over the stern if on the aft sunpad over the garage.
They will eventually get fed up with being bounced every which way in any decent sea and retreat to the cockpit anyway when underway.
