Hi.

Once again, I turn to my learned friends on this forum.

I am looking to paint my boat in the next few weeks (as soon as the weather is a little warmer).

There are several fittings on my boat that I don't recognise.

As I don't know what thaey are, I don't know whether to remove them or not.

They come as a pair!

Also, there is this one. There seems to be one either side of the tiller.

If anyone knows what they are, please tell me!

Also, I would like to emebed the imaged but have no icons when creating a new post (like I do in every other forum!)

Regards

Carl

The bottom link's picture is a mounting bracket for a Walker trailing Log. They are handed, port and standard, so that the log can be streamed from each side. If you do not have a Walker Log, they are items which can be sold on ebay as they tend to be missing from second hand ones.

I dont know what the top link pictures are.

The third picture is a mounting for a Walkers log. Normally sited at the transom - one each side. The Walkers log is a mechanical device that has a string running outboard with a spinner in the water. The device translates the number of spins into distance travelled.

Go to "Settings" top RH corner

then in "My settings" go to "General settings" and find the " Message editor interface".
Change that to "standard editor"

Save the change.

You will now have a whole load of editing tools to play with and even more if you " go advanced"

But you dont need them to post Photo bucket images. Just copy and paste the the IMG code into your post

I reckon the ones on the transom could have been for a boarding ladder. ??????

and for good measure a Walker log.

Thanks for that everyone!

If I can just figure out what the other things are! I might remove them and then put them safely to one side, just in case.

Hi Carl

I had some of these fittings shown in the top pictures in my 1960's Macwester they were to mount a removeable compas !!

However the boat also had two small similar fittings at the back of the cockpit took ages to work out that they were the femail half of a bracket used to hang a cockpit table on !

Good luck
