My understanding now is that the new features are pretty much all in place and it is fine to trade through whenever you want.. I reently bought something off there and it was all fine, easy transaction and everything - believe there will soon be more publicity and i hope it becomes an easy place to get all the boaty bits you need, i know I got a great deal, as it grows it'll be so much easier rather than trawling through chandlery sites /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I started it, sold it to another forumite who in turn sold it to another forumite - so it is still 'in the family' in a way.
I would have liked to keep it but it was a choice between continuing to work my nuts off in Scotland to advertise and promote the site or take a year off to go sailing .
I still have a small interest in the site, and hope that it does well as it was my baby. It annoyed me that all the sailing stuff on Ebay came under automotive, and anyway Ebay is just too big now . . . but of course it does need the support of the sailing community to make it work.
I must admit that I suspected this post was cunningly disguised promotion as well - who the devil are you, Mr. Advocate?
My dear Mr Webcraft, I had no intention of provoking any complaints about commercial posts and shall withdraw my initial post immediately. Your assistance is greatly appreciated, and I sincerely apologise if I have caused offence.
Regards
Mike
Why is it advertising? Is the OP connected to Sailroom in some way? Perhaps you could name and shame.
I ask for two reasons. First, because I have no connection of any kind with Sailroom or its founder(s) myself, but I think it's a good idea and I don't see why it shouldn't be mentioned by other people whose attention it has caught. And the link is helpful to those of us who like to follow postings here through to whatever they are describing. Whenever I answer anyone's questions, I try to do the same. Saves a thousand words and all that.
Second, because that's twice in as many days that someone has got worked up at perceived advertising where I, simple and naive newbie that I clearly am, cannot see that the OP is guilty of it.
No, don't. If you didn't intend to promote the site for commercial purposes, then you have nothing to be embarassed about. If you did, then your accuser should produce some evidence.
Well, if I had a commercial website and I got my friends (or errr dual-ids) to post on here about it - then I think you could rightly call it advertising.
Given that the original poster has been involved in threads about sailroom before and seems to know the current owner of sailroom, the post just smacks of advertising to me.
Easily dealt with of couse - he can join his mate on the ignore list /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
