does anyone know how much gel coat repairs might cost...?

2 seasons ago I was out of the water for annual service & Anti Foul. A very nice sport cruiser was next to my boat and over the course of the weekend we both sanded the old antifoul off and re painted.

Went back to the yard 2 weeks later to re launch to be told by the yard staff that the guy next to me had mad a complaint about my sanding and wanted me to pay for his boat to be polished, I very politely told him to **** *** well I am sure you can guess.

Last season was out of the water for the same reasons and guess whose boat is next to mine!!!!

This is the funny bit

His boat burnt down and took mine and another 1 in the process:eek: Mind you got a new boat out of it lol

Be funny if it was an old boat and claimed on his insurance, the insurance company finding that it would cost more to have the boat moved to a GRP specialist and have the hull professionally painted, and moved back, decided to write the boat off. So he gets a cheque for £2000 and loses his boat.
I believe that where Boats are concerned Insurance Companies are totally ruthless. Case in point. There was recently a fire in a marina at a well known lake. Some boats which appeared to my "Retired but Professional" eye were covered in smoke damage but untouched by flames themselves. So I hoped to buy one to clean up. But when I enquired I was told they "Had gone to landfill" Some people would believe that but can you really imagine 3 boats around 25 -30 ft going to your nearest tip. But the Insurance Company had disposed of them quicker than you can say "osmosis" and with the owner of the boat next to yours, by claiming, could be entering a course of action he will regret.
Mind you, as you are the "Third Party" it is your Insurance Company who is going to foot the bill.
