Hello

We are interested in seeking some advice from David Felpham (we believe he is the designer of the Snapdragon). If anyone knows how to contact him, we'd appreciate it. We've searched on the Internet for both his name and Prout, but no joy so far.

Don't know about David Felpham but David Feltham is/was a yacht designer in the Portsmouth area.

Thank you. I've looked on the web for him - and he looks like the person I want to contact. Do you have any information on where he is/how to reach him please??

I knew a David Feltham in the early 1970's who sailed a Coribee and lived in the Havant Emsworth area, could this be the same chap?

I appreciate this is resurrecting an ancient thread - but yes, I do, or rather I'm about to.
I'm having tea with him on Thursday. I got in touch with his daughter who's arranged everything. I'm really very excited. So if anyone has Snapdragon 670, Cobra or Seawolf stories to share I'm happy to pass them on.

Say a big hello to him please from me and my son Daniel.
Daniel and I started the original Cobra & Seawolf website in about 2000 after I bought my Cobra 750 and we ran its website & forum for about 6 years.
David came along to a couple of Cobra rallies I arranged back then in Lymington and Bradwell as there had never been any class association for either.

I still have the same boat... but I am no longer active with the website.

Send him best wishes from me as well. I came to Chewi's Lymington rally and David Feltham had a look round my Seawolf 26 Woolfee. I believe it was the first one that he sold.

I have a Seawolf 30 - lovely sporty boat with twin keels and a mast height which goes on forever. It is still much admired for its looks despite being from the 1980s. A very good designer indeed.

hi, i have just come across your article above. david and i were close friends during the late 70,s and thro the 80,s. wolfeee was my boat i built her from the first set of mouldings after the prototype that was still being built. i also built the first seawolf 34 ( cobra 1050 ) when they relocated to littlehampton. we shared many a sailing ( and drinking ) sessions over the years with expert advice and help from david, a wonderful guy and marvellous yacht designer. i have pictures, sales brochure and bill of sale if youd be interested in copies and could also give you a brief history. e mail me at john.riminton@sky.com regards john.

What was the linkage between the Seawolf and Cobra brands - I never quite got that.

Brilliant! I'd love more information and can update you as well. I'll send an email.

david originally designed the cobra range for cobra yachts. he then went into partnership with a friend who had premises and designed the seawolf 26. cobra yachts went into liquidation and when seawolf yachts moved to littlehampton they managed to secure the moulds in a pretty poor state. they also got the mould for the original atlantic 43 so the had the complete range. the most oustanding in nearly every respect was the cobra 900 or seawolf 30. i sailed one new years eve with dave towards brighton and it went like a rocket. my 34 was roomy, comfortable and would take any sea condition with a good turn of speed for a bilge keel and with the sails trimmed would sail for hours without touching the wheel.

Indeed, David sadly passed away early in 2018.
I am however lucky to be caring for his entire archive of yacht designs and blue prints. Some really beautiful work and potentially a mountain of useful info for us owners.

What plans have you? I would love to frame the design of the Seawolf 30 TK for my wall.

Edit: sorry, 'plans' as in ''intentions'.

I've sorted them all out and repacked them so they're stable . I've started scanning them and creating high quality PDF files. The intention is to make them available online for exactly that purpose

That's good. I was worried that they were all lost.

I met David at a Cobra/Seawolf rally and he remembered my Seawolf 26 well as it was the first one he sold. We had an interesting talk and he came on board to have a look round.

Edit: I seemed to have repeated myself in the second sentence.
