R.I.B. International.

Well Tony Lee-Elliot has done an article on safety etc for RIBS and in one paragraph explains the benfits of Soltron, he also goes on to write...

He (Alan Priddy) and I need the extra range so I am looking forward to reporting on this fuel additive in later issues. In the meantime, talk to Ken Firth of Kaylor Environmental who sells the stuff on 01202 476902. He no longer has to de-soot the back of his princess and Flatacraft tender and what was once a pretty sick yacht is now performing better than when it was new a decade ago. Oh by the way, I tried some in that flamin truck of mine and gues what? I am twelve quid up just after the drive back from Christchurch to Leicester and it no longer smokes on start-up from cold, but don't tell everyone please.

Lets see what turns up on his future reports.

Well at least I appreciate you DepSol and now use the magic ingredient. So don't bother giving us a break - just plug away at it to your heart's content.

Re: There yer go then!...NM

DepSol was a term that was originally spoken in one of those pygmy tribes in central Afica. When translated it was originally known as Deep Soul and stood for a person who was capable of some deep soul searching (usually the WitchDoctor). DepSol is just the slang , or rather more modern word for the same.

There was another trible wh used the same word but had a totally different meaning for it - in the case it stood for 'Deep Soul' just the same BUT in this case it was for one who could stand deepest in the water whilst still keeping their head above water - this was a very handy atrribute for one of these pymy's to have.

Now I have no idea which one of these two is meant by the handle used on this forum but my guess regardless of this is that it comes from a decendent of one or the other of these pygny tribes who now has a Fairline on the Congo river and communicates with the outside world via this forum.

Now the word SolTron ... well, thats another story.

Dear Depsol,
I would hate to make detrimental remarks toward your campaign but I'm afraid my experience with the sacred Soltron was one of woe. Early last year I saw the spectacular ellicktor advertised, read the stupendous splendiferous claims of less smoke, soot and an engine that will run on air for a zillion miles and quickly bought some, my heart a flutter.
Within a week of putting it in my twin Dieselled Princess, the smoke on start up began to appear, this got worse over the coming weeks until friends would ask me when and where I was taking her out next, thinking they wanted to come with me I would tell them, only to find their boats already gone in another direction.
Then the fuel filters would clog on a fortnightly basis, all four of the bloody things. We peered into the tank to see if the Soltron was converting sludge into combustable sludge but the tank was lovely and clean. So...
Had the tank drained and the fuel disposed of, re filled and within a day had my lovely sweet smelling, reletivaly sootlfree cruising buddies back.
I won't buy any more of the stuff, not ever. There. How do you like them apples?
Happy boating
Syd

Being a bit of a petrolhead and loathing oil burners with a vengence, a mate of mine runs a haulage company, now he swears by reddex desiel conditioner, rekons it keeps the injectors clean and they dont wear as much and it cuts down on smoke and carbon deposits. ok i know his trucks clock up in a week what most boats must do in a season, but its just a thought as this sluton stuff seems so exspensive.

Now does anybody know where i can buy a tin of StaBil,

Regards BarryH

Apples more like sour grapes to me!

The problem is I find the stuff quite good and never met someone face to face who has had great probs with it so therefore me thinks being clever I'll recommend it on here and have had to carry the torch for it ever since gleening small bits of info to prove my crusade is not a lost cause. Oh well some peeps like it and some dont however, the only people I've known to moan about it have been on this forum, except you of course Geoff.

BYW DepSol is Dependable Solutions abreviated, my company. Called it that as I am fed up with trying to get things in this world first time, that works, at the right price, that is available within a short period of time. My policy is to change that and I stick to it. Also if I cant do it I aint frightened to say so.

Dom

Ps aswell as sorting fuel probs I do boat covers for most european makes stinkpot or raggie.

Sex, lies and Soltron....

Sorry Depsol but why do we have to keep hearing anecdotal tosh. The statement "what was once a pretty sick yacht is now performing better than when it was new a decade ago" is quite clearly bolx, it's the kind of thing you say say leaning against the bar with your mates on your 4th pint.

Let's see some science. Why the hell would you talk to Ken Wotsit, he sells the stuff so corse he's gonna say it's fab. But why can't Ken or anyone else produce some simple scientific evidence?

By coincidence I updated my sums last night, I now have over 3000 road miles with Solly, all measured reasonably accurately, and the mpg is the same with/wthout the stuff, to within 1%.

As far as fuel economy goes, the evidence says this stuff is £30-a-bottle cat's piss.

Just stirring things up a bit ;-) !! BTW I'm in St H all next week, can't remember are you Jersey or Guernsey. Pint?

Re: Sex, lies and Soltron....

I bought solly thinking it would stop some of the exhaust smoke - wrong!! Never again.

Depsol is in Guernsey, word of warning, don't drink the beer there, suspect that Dom has sold all his left over solly to the breweries!!

Re: Sex, lies and Soltron....

Hey cmon guys, I just gave it a recommendation then you lot said what tosh so I show you a web site from someone who used it and take an extract from a journo and again you say what tosh, cant do anything until someone wants to do a scientific test can I?

I mean lts of people reccomend all sorts of stuff on this site but I'm the only one who gets constant jip fom you all. I will try the stuff other people recommend from now on and if it dont work I will give them a life time of hell!

I'm in Gsy but if you are passing give me a shout.

Re:Tosh....

DepSol - come on lighten up, don't take it personally! Nothing personal meant in this Solly discussion, just a lively debate. Most of what I write on here (and generally) is complete tosh :)

Depsol might still catch you later in the week. I'm travelling by private jet so I spose I could ask the driver to nip over to G, would only take a minute I spose. ;-)
